ActivateUTS and The Pack at UTS is committed to proving a workplace environment free of discrimination, victimisation and sexual harassment. All persons are required to treat their colleagues fairly and without harassment and inappropriate behaviour on the part of ActivateUTS staff will not be tolerated. Specifically, The Pack at UTS will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, vilification nor victimisation in any form.

Disciplinary Procedure

Discipline is important to maintain the standards of conduct and behaviours required to preserve the reputation of ActivateUTS, The Pack at UTS and to adhere to laws, regulations and licensing conditions.

Three Strike Policy

The Pack at UTS will be implementing a Three Strike policy to which certain examples will result in a strike next to a volunteer’s name. After three strikes, the volunteer will be banned from The Pack at UTS and no longer allowed to volunteer at events.

Some examples that could lead to a strike include:

  • Failing to show up to a volunteering shift without at least 24hr notice
  • Leaving your shift without signing out or consulting a leader.

Immediate and harsher disciplinary action may be taken for certain situations that are deemed “highly inappropriate” which may result in the immediate dismissal of the volunteer. This could include:

  • The breach of laws and regulations
  • Reporting for a shift under the influence of alcohol or drugs or consuming alcohol or drugs during a shift
  • In the event of a criminal offence
  • Where an individual is deemed guilty of a victimisation, bullying or sexual harassment incident

Employee Safety

All staff (including volunteers) are responsible for their own health and safety for the health and safety of other person around them and have a responsibility to comply with the health and safety rules/practices of the organisation. The Work Health and Safety Act 2011 requires ActivateUTS Volunteers to:

  • Take reasonable care for their own health and safety
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of others
  • Comply with any reasonable instructions, policies and procedure given by their employer, business or controller of the workplace.
  • Report any injury immediately and complete the appropriate report
  • Report any unsafe condition or practice

Your safety is important at all times. Therefore, the following are rules that need to be adhered to when volunteering at events:

  • Always wear appropriate attire like enclosed shoes and The Pack at UTS Volunteer T-Shirt
  • Make sure work areas are clean and tidy
  • Do not run in the workplace, particularly in areas of production or storage
